Getting involved at Goldstone
We want you to be involved in your child’s education and we are always available to talk to you. Our recent parents’ survey showed that our parents find our staff ‘very approachable’. Members of the senior management team are also always prepared to talk and it is very easy to make an appointment.
In addition to termly parents’ evenings and end of year reports we aim to keep you informed about your child’s progress. We try our best to communicate your child’s targets, either at the parents’ evenings or by sending information home. Our aim is that you should always have a good idea how well your child is progressing and what you can do to help them.
We run sessions and evenings which will explain what we are doing in school and again how you can help your child.
We encourage parents to volunteer in our school, particularly to assist us in regularly listening to children read. Please contact our Deputy Headteacher, Iain Henderson (via email iainhenderson@goldstone.brighton-hove.sch.uk) if you are interested . As part of our strict safeguarding policy, anyone working regularly in our school must have a up-to-date DBS check and two personal referees.
Of course you may wish to have a really active role in moving the school forward. If so, being a School Governor might be for you. We often have vacancies for parent governors.
The Parents’ Forum is a talking shop where you can have your say about things which are happening and raise issues which you want to discuss. At the Forum you will also be asked your opinion about possible developments. Dates of Forum meetings are published in Goldstone Gossip.
The Parent and Toddler Group meets every Friday under the supervision of Clare Packham who is one of our superb Nursery Nurses. Again this is informal, free and fun. Tea and coffee are available. All you need is a toddler, you don’t even need to be an existing Goldstone parent.
Of course you can also join the FrOGS who do an immeasurable amount of good for our school.
