School of Sanctuary Award
The School of Sanctuary Award is given to schools in recognition of their good practice in fostering a safe and inclusive school environment, building understanding and empathy towards people seeking safety and working collaboratively to strengthen community approaches to welcoming refugee children and families.
In order to become a School of Sanctuary, Goldstone had to demonstrate that we uphold the City of Sanctuary values whilst moving through the Learn, Embed and Share processes and meeting eight minimum criteria.
- LEARN Schools help their students, staff and wider community learn about what it means to be seeking sanctuary and the key questions surrounding forced migration.
- EMBED Schools are committed to creating a safe and supportive culture of welcome that benefits everybody, including anyone seeking safety.
-
SHARE Schools proudly share their values and activities with their local communities and work collaboratively to build our movement of welcome.
We used the journey to become a School of Sanctuary as an intentional and reflective process, helping to review and refine school practice and strengthen community connections and engagement.
